Our Story

All of our pieces are imagined, designed, and handcrafted by our in-house goldsmith Katrin Arp-Schroeder.

Katrin started her classical training in Germany over 30 years ago and continued her studies in Australia for Jewelry Design. She has since participated in shows around the world and has spent the last 8 years sharing her craft and passion in Charleston, SC.

Katrin is certified to train goldsmith apprentices as well as jewelry design students, and offers courses in Charleston at her studio.

Every piece that Katrin makes aims to share a story with the world and empower the person who wears it.

Meadors Jewelry Sustainability

Every Meadors fine jewelry piece is handcrafted from scratch in our North Charleston, South Carolina studio. We begin with raw precious metal grain, creating our own alloys and maintaining close control over quality, craftsmanship, and sourcing.

Meadors incorporates ethically sourced materials, including Fairmined gold whenever possible. Fairmined, an assurance label administered by the Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM), supports artisanal and small-scale mining communities through socially and environmentally responsible practices. To maintain traceability, each stage of the Fairmined supply chain is independently audited.

We also work extensively with recycled sterling silver and continuously reuse and refine materials to minimize waste. Our gemstones are selected from traceable, conflict-free sources, many through partners affiliated with the American Gem Trade Association and its high ethical standards. Whenever possible, we source gemstones domestically, including Montana sapphires and Oregon Sunstones mined in the United States.

Our diamonds are purchased through suppliers who participate in the System of Warranties and follow the guidelines of the Kimberly Process, and we have expanded our use of certified post-consumer diamonds to help reduce reliance on environmentally damaging mining practices.

Meadors follows green studio practices focused on waste reduction, energy efficiency, less-toxic alternatives in the jewelry-making process, and responsible material disposal.
